Objective Media Group appoints Matthew Angel as Chief Operating Officer

Matthew Angel will be joining Objective Media Group as its Chief Operating Officer, driving the company’s next phase of business development.

Angel, who will take up the role in October, will head both the legal and business affairs and finance teams, and will also oversee all commercial activity, bolstering the creative restructure by leading the company's push into new territories.

Matthew joins OMG from Syco where he was appointed Global Head of Legal Business Affairs in 2012, recently negotiating the new ITV Network contract for The X-Factor and Britain’s Got Talent as well as the previous contract for those shows in 2013.

He said, “It was always going to take a lot for me to leave Syco, where I have had four amazing years, but I simply couldn’t resist this new challenge. It’s an incredibly exciting time for OMG and I am thrilled to be joining the company.”

Prior to Syco, Angel was Controller of Legal and Business Affairs at All3media where he negotiated the five year music publishing deal with EMI for a number of the All3 companies. Previous to All3media he was at ITV for 10 years, latterly heading up the Legal and Business Affairs Non-scripted team for ITV Studios, where he negotiated the commissioning deal with Channel 4 for Come Dine With Me.

Objective Media Group CEO Layla Smith added, “We are delighted that Matt is joining us at Objective. Matt has a wealth of experience and has consistently expanded the reach of all the companies he has worked with. He has a passion for building businesses, and working with our incredibly exciting scripted, entertainment and fact ent labels will make OMG bigger and better.”
